On Friday, November 8th, Mrs. Sparks' seventh grade ELA students held a mock trial: The People vs. The Narrator of Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart. After learning about an unreliable narrator, students dissected the elements of argument and demonstrated mastery in speaking and listening standards with their persuasive delivery. VECA's eighth grade students served as the jury, who listened to the evidence presented and collaborated with their peers to arrive at a verdict. In the end, the court ruled that all students involved exceeded expectations and did a phenomenal job. Way to go, scholars!
