On Thursday, December 7, 2017, VECA's 7th grade scholars visited Valdosta State University's College of Nursing and Health Sciences Building. In Life Science, scholars were learning about how the systems of the body interact with one another to carry out life processes. To connect the current study to healthcare fields, scholars participated in an interactive learning tour with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences faculty and staff.
VECA scholars rotated to four interactive locations in the CONHS Building. Dr. Michele Blankenship (Director of Simulations), Mr. Sean Hutchison (Athletic Training Clinic Coordinator), Ms. Sarah Thomas (Fitness Center Coordinator), and Dr. Mark Kasper (Exercise Physiology Program Director) shared with scholars how nursing simulations, athletic training equipment, fitness center equipment, and human performance lab equipment are used to keep the human body cells and systems working efficiently. Scholars interacted with high-tech equipment and performed exercise and medical tasks. Faculty and staff answered questions related to healthcare fields.
Thank you Valdosta State University College of Nursing and Health Sciences for a relevant and interactive tour!
